These past few weeks, as I searched for inspiration for my design projects, I was taken to several sites talking about what’s hot in fashion and design this spring and how the two are so interrelated. Here are some of my favorites – hopefully these will inspire your idea books for your next interior design project.

Metallics: Fashion is definitely taking a bolder turn this season. Metallics, on their own or in even bolder animal prints, will be filling up the trendiest of both clothing and furniture stores. Think about incorporating accessories such as vases and accent pieces. Or if you are feeling more daring, consider an accent chair or small chaise in a fun, chic metallic fabric.

Ochre: Yellows: This color is taking the design world and the fashion world by storm. You can find it in mid-length jackets and bold accent chairs and throw pillows. Use it as a pop of bright spring color in your accessories or artwork.

Black and White Graphic Prints: You can see that black and white are all the rage this season simply by taking a walk through your local mall. Large print stripes, mixed with checks or bold black prints against a white background are all the rage. Look for geometric fabrics for your accent pillows or window coverings. Want to go bold? Add a wallpapered accent wall to a bland room for a pop of wow!

Cobalt and Steep Blues: Love these bold colors, particularly paired with other jewel tones such as rich purples and turquoises. Use these to deepen the mood in a bright airy room or in a darker, moodier library space. Or turn up the contrast with like-colored accent pillows on a neutral sofa.
