For those of you who are still a little dubious about committing to bold color on a larger scale, such as painting walls or trim, don’t fret! You can still have a strong pop of color without the commitment. Here are a few suggestions:

Create a neutral background and add punches of color: Keep your upholstery, walls and floor covering colors neutral and add color through the use of accent pillows, throws, vases, artwork and accessories. You can create plenty of drama by choosing very bold accessory colors and highlighting them against neutral back drops.

Select one or two large pieces to be bold and keep other neutral: I have some clients recently who are venturing out a little and taking the plunge with the purchase of a bold colored area rug, sofa and/or accent chairs, while keeping the walls and other larger pieces neutral.

A small, well thought-out dose of color can go a really long way. Consider adding molding or painting or wallpapering the walls inside existing molding, a bright, bold color.
