Market time is our favorite! This spring’s High Point Furniture Market was especially fun — we got to catch up with some of the best reps in the business, got insight into tons of new trends, and celebrated with fellow designers and the team.

For me, participating in the furniture market is crucial for my creativity. It offers the uninterrupted time and space over several days to focus on what’s new, what’s unique, what’s exciting, and beautiful in the world of design.

It’s where we learn about the quality of the products we specify for our clients so that we can present those products with knowledge and expertise.

It’s also a break from the every day of business as usual to become newly inspired, educated and motivated to always offer the best of myself to my clients.

So now that we’re back, refreshed, and inspired, here’s the lowdown on the highlights from Spring 2024 High Point Market.

What’s Hot Right Now:

Bedroom with geometric wallpaper, brown curtains, and brown and terracotta bedding.Swatches of sustainable fabrics.Glass coffee tables in living room vignette.

  • Browns and terracottas are THE “it” colors right now. The market was filled with these earthy shades from pillows to wallpapers to bedding.
  • Sustainable fabrics! A big goal of Olamar’s is to become more sustainable and work with more environmentally friendly brands and vendors, so we were pumped to see a lot more options in the market.
  • Glass tables. In the fall we noticed some small, square cocktail/pedestal tables with block glass, but they were few and far between. This year they are everywhere and we love it!!! Glass is still being utilized mostly on small side tables, but the larger accent tables are everything.
  • Mushrooms 🍄‍🟫🍄 So many cute figurines and patterns honoring the humble fungi. We think it’s a tie-in to mushrooms in the larger culture, from foodie love to travel centered around psychedelic experiences.
  • Bubble lights are everywhere these days. They’ve been trending for awhile, but we noticed vendors changing up the glass looks a bit for updated styles.
  • Beautiful sheers! We’ve always loved sheers, but they are very big right now! People are wanting their window treatments to be lighter in feel and weight.

Some Personal Highlights:

Dovetail Karla floor lamp.

My favorite find this market! Dovetail Karla floor lamp.

Entrance to the Pooky vignette at High Point Market

Pooky — it was their first time at market so of course we had to check it out.

Art piece of lips by Left Bank Art.

The latest add to our ongoing lips moodboard from Left Bank Art. After finding a lip statue for our DC Waterfront condo project, we’ve become obsessed 💋

Glassblown striped lamps on a table.

Whether it’s for a client or our own inventory, we need these glass-blown lamps.

Antique wood dresser with gold handles.

The antique center is not usually our vibe, but we have a client (Phillippe) that wants a very traditional look. We were surprised with how much we liked this piece, not just for him but also it made us ask ourselves how we can incorporate the occasional vintage/antique piece. We are thinking of turning this into a sink vanity!

Paola talking to Fabricut rep, Gary.

The best rep ever, Gary! We’ve been a long time customer of Fabricut but boy did we learn so much! They also had some of the most comfortable swivel chairs on the market. Will definitely be doing less COM and purchasing furniture with them. Gary was tremendously helpful and is one of our best/favorite reps AKA he’s part of our team. So many exciting things to come we’ll be doing with Fabricut.

Paola meeting Stefano Dal Maso alongside Gary from Fabricut.

We got the SUPER lucky privilege of getting to meet Stefano Dal Maso, creator/designer of the Amalfi line at Fabricut. Straight from Italy, there is no one as passionate about leather as this guy! We were even fortunate enough to be the first ever to see some new colors they’re introducing!! Stay tuned.

Paola, Christa, and Carly cheersing cocktails to celebrate a successful Spring 2024 High Point Market.

Last but not least, shout out to Christa (Style Savvy Design) for making this market memorable! ❤️Fun-colored drinks to match the fun colors at market is the only way to cap off a successful High Point.
