Market time is our favorite! This spring’s High Point Furniture Market was especially fun — we got to catch up with some of the best reps in the business, got insight into tons of new trends, and celebrated with fellow designers and the team.
For me, participating in the furniture market is crucial for my creativity. It offers the uninterrupted time and space over several days to focus on what’s new, what’s unique, what’s exciting, and beautiful in the world of design.
It’s where we learn about the quality of the products we specify for our clients so that we can present those products with knowledge and expertise.
It’s also a break from the every day of business as usual to become newly inspired, educated and motivated to always offer the best of myself to my clients.
So now that we’re back, refreshed, and inspired, here’s the lowdown on the highlights from Spring 2024 High Point Market.
What’s Hot Right Now:
- Browns and terracottas are THE “it” colors right now. The market was filled with these earthy shades from pillows to wallpapers to bedding.
- Sustainable fabrics! A big goal of Olamar’s is to become more sustainable and work with more environmentally friendly brands and vendors, so we were pumped to see a lot more options in the market.
- Glass tables. In the fall we noticed some small, square cocktail/pedestal tables with block glass, but they were few and far between. This year they are everywhere and we love it!!! Glass is still being utilized mostly on small side tables, but the larger accent tables are everything.
- Mushrooms 🍄🟫🍄 So many cute figurines and patterns honoring the humble fungi. We think it’s a tie-in to mushrooms in the larger culture, from foodie love to travel centered around psychedelic experiences.
- Bubble lights are everywhere these days. They’ve been trending for awhile, but we noticed vendors changing up the glass looks a bit for updated styles.
- Beautiful sheers! We’ve always loved sheers, but they are very big right now! People are wanting their window treatments to be lighter in feel and weight.
